Обръщение на Сергей Игнатов – министър на образованието, младежта и науката
REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA
Minister of Education, Youth and Science
TO ALL PARTICIPANTS
IN THE XXII INTERNATIONAL LIMES CONGRESS
DEAR LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, DEAR COLLEAGUES,
It is an honour that Bulgaria is the host of such a prestigious international forum as the XXII International Limes Congress. The reason why these Congresses are valued as much as the Olympiad Games in the field of Roman culture and archaeology is that it is not borders that are important but the overcoming of borders through communication, knowledge and creativity. “To feel the border” means to have a sense for the historical achievements of the Roman culture and a commitment to its contemporary dimensions.
We, in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, highly appreciate the capacity of this forum to popularize the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage as a part of the world heritage. The message of the forum is sent not only to our guests but to all young people in Bulgaria as well, in order to show them how culture and history can be a fundament for the European identity and self-confidence.
I would like to personally welcome the hosts from the city of Rousse – the former Sextaginta Prista, which once was an important centre in the Bulgarian 471 km limes, and which is the centre of cultural and spiritual communication once again today.
I wish everyone participating in the forum success in the challenge of achieving valuable communication.
SERGEI IGNATOV
Minister of Education,
Youth and Science
