The investment in science, interrelation with real marketplace, business and scientific organizations is essential in the conditions of crisis.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport during May was held student scientific session ‘Knowledge Economy’, organized by the Business Planning and Project Management Centre with the support of the Rector of the university and Transport Management Faculty.
The forums of such character are place, where PhD students, students, lecturers and specialists meet. This is a good opportunity to exchange new ideas and knowledge and to compare the level of training of economists and engineers with the requirements of the practice.
It is not by chance that the session is called – ‘Knowledge Economy’.
We can definitely call Todor Kableshkov University of Transport a good university for training transport specialist, successfully proven in the educational market for 90 years. According the opinion of the managers of the leading transport companies, the university is the biggest academic and research transport centre that provides knowledge and skills, relevant to the current market conditions and prospects for development of the country and society.
Prof. Petar Kolev, DSc, Rector of the university, told the students that the development of the research activity is important part of university mission. He expressed his satisfaction with the session that allows presenting of scientific achievements, discussing common problems, exchanging experience. This results in improving the quality of education and thus raising the university prestige. Prof. Kolev announced the launching of the youth edition of the scientific journal ‘Mechanics Transport Communications’ entitled ‘Young Forum’. It will publish researches, developed by regular and PhD students. He expressed belief that this will become a good tradition of the university.
35 students from BSc and MSc Programmes in Transportation Engineering, Building Structures, Transport Economics and Economics of Transport Companies participated in the scientific session.
The students presented entrepreneurial projects, business plans, analysis and researches on interesting topics. The developments were distinguished by innovation, rationality and foresight. The student teams showed to their colleagues and guests of the scientific session impressive knowledge in the development of business plans and projects. Furthermore, they demonstrated confidence, initiative, creativity and skills to work in a team and defend positions.
The authors of the most excellent developments have been nominated for ‘Annual Rector’s Awards’ for research activity that will be presented at the university celebration. Theses awards are moral and material reward for the initiative, diligence and research skills of the students.
The young people are those who actively participate in the development of the country and society. Therefore it is important for them to strive for future, based on knowledge, because the knowledge is the most valuable asset! If they know what they want, they will be aware of what they are searching for!
